The FMC ADC 250M 16B 4CHA is a four-channel FPGA Mezzanine Card, fully compliant with the ANSI/VITA 57.1 standard. It offers 16-bit sampling at up to 250 MS/s and is optimized for RF signals with a 500 MHz center frequency. The module supports clocking from an external reference, direct clock inputs, or a configurable trigger. 

Technical Specifications

• Compliant with VITA 57.1-2010 

• Four-channel 16-bit ADC, 250 MSPS (required model: ISLA216P25) 

• Internal ADC clock circuit: PLL on the reference clock input with fine frequency tuning; holdover mode on loss of external reference 

• High-frequency PLL oscillator output with amplitude control, locked to external reference 

• Reference clock can be sourced from the front panel or FMC pins CLK2_BIDIR and CLK3_BIDIR 

• FMC CLK_DIR pin must be connected to 3.3 V via a 10 kΩ pull-up resistor 

• CLK2_BIDIR and CLK3_BIDIR driven from the carrier to the FMC mezzanine 

• External ADC clock input: 50–250 MHz, nominal 0 dBm 

• External reference clock input: 0.5–20 MHz, nominal 0 dBm 

• External digital trigger input 

 

Applications

• Designed for high-speed real-time systems with multi-channel processing and ultra-precise time synchronization over White Rabbit networks. 

• Compatible with our carrier boards in MTCA-based control and measurement systems. 

• Typical uses include precision measurement and control in large-scale research infrastructures. 

• Fun fact: the card’s first practical application was RF signal sampling in the Sirius BPM systems.
